Spring Is Coming - Time To Clean House!

Warm weather is right around the corner and your business might need a Spring Cleaning! Over the long fall and winter month’s businesses can sometimes become stagnant, in dire need of a good spring cleaning and a sales boost, especially small, internet based companies. How do you give a business a spring cleaning and boost sales? How do you kick start these efforts after a hard winter and rebound with a more focused approach on success? Atlas North has a few tips to help you on your way.
First:
When you begin this process, don’t dwell too long on any one item in that to do list you have floating in your head, otherwise you’ll become bogged down in the details and forget to look at the big picture. Ever heard the expression, you can’t see the forest for the trees? Well this idiom holds true for your business. Don’t burn energy trying to rehash the past especially if it has been less the stellar.
Don’t waste time trying to perfect every last detail for your new plan either. In order to remain light and flexible, especially in a down time, you need to push your message, ideas and products to market now, not tomorrow. No time like the present to get the wheel rolling again and once that wheel is rolling down hill, it may hit a bump or two, but it’s still ten times more likely to keep rolling.
Second:
Examine your current AR situation. All too often businesses may overlook an invoice, or an account that is past due in the hustle and bustle of the holidays. Well spring cleaning efforts should be focused here. Make sure you’ve billed for everything you can. Old invoice or accounts should be revisited with your customers so you can try and collect on any outstanding debts you might have.
Third:
You know your business is good, but does anyone else? What efforts are you taking to sound the horn, spread the word, and let the rest of the world know that you exist. Search engine optimization is a great way to start, followed by a healthy dose of viral marketing efforts, You Tube, twitter, online blogs, forums, face book… the list goes on and on… Most of these services are free, or nearly free, so why not take advantage of them. It takes minutes a day and it can really help to push your efforts.
Most of all, don’t lose sight of the reason you started your business in the first place. It’s easy to get down when things aren’t going right. But it’s not very easy to get back up once you’re down. Despite the old cliché, sometimes things can’t get any worse, you may have already hit that stage, but from that view point, things can only get better!
